Round Lake Community Association Chalet

The Chalet, on West End Road approximately 11 km east of Telkwa on Highway 16, is the home base for the hiking and cross-country ski trails.

In the 1980s, the provincial government committed to building a new Quick School. Original plans were for it to be constructed on West End Road near the Deep Creek corner. Round Lake Community Association built a ski chalet across from this property to serve as an after-school gathering place for both students and community. The plans changed, and the school was constructed on Kerr Road, but the Chalet still exists as a warm-up hut for skiers and hikers and as a gathering place for music events.

Round Lake Community Association believes in providing and preserving places of recreation that are easily accessible to all. In 2007, we renewed and built a new series of trails that start from the Chalet.

Upon entering the chalet, you will find a delightful surprise waiting for you – a guest book with signatures and more made by previous visitors. This charming tradition allows guests to connect with one another through the pages of this treasured book, sharing their experiences and recommendations for exploring the surrounding area. As you flip through the pages, you can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation, each entry an invitation to embark on your own adventure.

And speaking of adventures, don’t forget to grab one of the maps of the nearby trails. These maps, adorned with colorful markers and dotted lines, provide a gateway to countless outdoor escapades. Whether you’re an avid hiker or simply enjoy leisurely walks amidst nature’s beauty, these maps will guide you along picturesque trails, revealing hidden gems and breathtaking views that will leave you in awe. So, grab a pen and add your own story to the guest book before heading out with a map in hand, ready to create unforgettable memories of your own.
